If in the first metric two teams statistically tie, the winner is determined by the second metric. Due the big sample size in this challenge, only the primary metric will be effectively used in ranking.
Unless the winner of all sub-challenges is the same team, all winning teams will go to middle authors according to alphabetical order. Thus, the best strategy 1. for a single team is to optimize on the most promising sub-challenge, unless you are absolutely sure you will win all three. 2. Change your last name to start with A or B.
