Hello, In the instructions, I read the following: Top-ranked method performance: - You MUST have a published article (even as a preprint, e.g., arXiv, Zenodo) prior to the announcement. The summary article submitted during validation may be used for the published content. So that would mean that after the submission, prior to the announcements, the submmited short paper must already be available as a preprint? Thank you in advance.

I want to clarify the statement that you found: The idea is the following. **We try to make sure that each of the three winning algorithms publishes a preprint before presenting their results at MICCAI and being declared a winner. This is because we want to prevent, say a company, from competing in the challenge and winning it, but never releasing the methods behind their algorithm. It is crucial that all algorithms (or at the bare minimum the employed methods and strategies) are reproducible, so we require the preprint.** The message you found is confusing in the sense that it is not clear what 'announcement' means in this context. What is meant is that the three best algorithms will be notified by us via email prior to the challenge that they are in the top-3. Then they should prepare the preprint and publish it, e.g. on ArXiv. We will then announce the winners and the exact ranking at the conference. There will be some time before the initial notification of the top-3 and the actual conference so that the teams can prepare presentations and preprints. As soon as the final ranking is made public at MICCAI, people may want to know about the methods employed by the teams. That is why it's nice if the preprints are already available online at this point. My current understanding is that the paper submitted to OpenReview can be uploaded as preprint directly as it is, but I will need to verify this and get back to you and/or post this in the forum as an announcement. The idea is that it should not be a lot of extra work to prepare the preprint and publish it. **So, in short. In case you get notified that you are among the top-3, then please publish your paper as a preprint at your earliest convenience, but definitely before the conference takes place. ** Also, could you please send me the link to the page where you found this statement?
