Hi,
First of all, many thanks to all of the organisers for putting this together. This is my first time taking part and think that the initiative is a really great idea.
I only plan to take part it one challenge - population growth with BGS - and am almost ready to make a final submission. I have been able to make a couple of testing submissions, but it currently says that I would need to join a team to make the final one. This is not the case for other challenges, so perhaps there is some kind of mistake here? I am not competing as part of a team but could make one if this is the only way to submit.
After I make a submission of parameter estimates I will submit a write up. I read that I would need to make this a publicly available file in the project. Does this mean that the file would be readable by others participants? If so, then I suppose that my write up should **not** contain the final results, but only the methods?
Any help with the questions above would be really appreciated.
Best wishes,
Alex
Created by Alex Mackintosh Igelkott Hi @tjstruck and @RyanGutenkunst,
Thank you for resolving the permissions issue and for the helpful replies.
I understand the write up part better now. I will include details about the method and some results showing how well the model fits the data (rather than actual parameter estimates).
Best,
Alex Thank you for your participation Alex!
Regarding the write-up, I think it is best if it's made public, since we'll want them publicly visible after the competition. In that case, you should not include details about the final inference you arrived at. In any case it is your method we're mostly interested in. I agree with Travis that it is unlikely anyone will be seeking them out ahead of time, so don't worry too much about it.
Best,
Ryan Hi @Igelkott, thanks for letting us know! You should be able to submit to the Growth with BGS now.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm not sure why that was the only challenge without submission permission.
Since it is possible for another user to access your write-up (it would be a tedious process since there is no public access/knowledge of who has submitted a write-up), you should probably not include results in the write-up. Just to note, the instructions on submitting a write-up are for submitting a project with an edited wiki (see [here](https://youtu.be/4EoKPS5G92E?t=3040) for a video example), but there shouldn't be a problem with submitting a file like you've done with the challenges.
Alternatively, you could specifically only set it to share with @GHIST2025Organizers, so only we can view it.
Thoughts, @RyanGutenkunst?
