PhD in Production and Systems Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2002), a degree in Computer Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (1988) and a master’s degree in production and systems engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1997). He is a full professor in the Professional and Technological Education Sector of the Federal University of Paraná and a permanent lecturer in the Bioinformatics postgraduate program at UFPR. He is a collaborating professor in the Graduate Programs in Bioinformatics at UFMG, Sciences-Biochemistry at UFPR and in the Graduate Program in Genetics at UFPR. He has experience in the field of Applied Intelligence, working mainly on the following topics: pattern recognition, neural networks and genetic algorithms. Currently, the main focus of his work is the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques in the solution of Bioinformatics problems.
