Prithwish Chakraborty prithwishc

Prithwish Chakraborty is currently a Research Staff Member at IBM Research in the Center of Computational Health at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, NY. His work focuses on applications of data science towards patient health characterization and risk modeling. Broadly, his research interests are temporal data mining, machine learning and image recognition. He received his Ph.D. in computer science on applications of data science to public health forecasting under the guidance of Dr. Naren Ramakrishnan from Virginia Tech in 2016. He has received manager choice and excellence awards at IBM. He led a team from IBM Research that won the first biobank disease challenge organized by Partners Healthcare in 2018. He has published ~30 papers with > 750 citations to premier journals and conferences such as KDD, SDM, AAAI, and TBME. He has presented a tutorial on public health forecasting in AAAI 2016, given tutorial on explainable AI for healthcare at KDD 2020 (and was also accepted for one in SDM 2020), given invited talks in BCDE 2014, and has a patent with HP labs on forecasting solar photovoltaic output. He co-organised DSHealth 2020, 2019 and MLMH 2018 workshops as part of the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining conference, KDD 2020, 2019, and 2018 respectively. He also helped facilitate KDD Health Day 2018 and 2019. He serves on the program committee and regular reviewer for venues such as IJCAI, AAAI, NeurIPS, ICML, ECML-PKDD, TNNLS and NSR.
