Dr. Tang is a professor at the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, China specializing in computational biology. He has been studying computational biology for the last 10 years, with broad expertise in areas including functional genomics, single-cell omics, sequencing, and machine learning. He leads a team of postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduates in bioinformatics research projects since he joined the Zhongshan School of Medicine as a faculty in 2018. Prior to moving into computational biology, he was originally trained in molecular biology and genetics. He completed postdoctoral training in human genomics at the Jackson Laboratory. During the postdoctoral training period, he has contributed to the understanding of the genetic basis of the 3D genome organization and its role in disease susceptibility with active participation in NIH ENCODE and 4DN projects. He currently has active research programs in human genetics and functional genomics, to interpret human genomic data in the context of the human 3D genome.
