Shimaa is currently a PhD candidate in the Pediatric Cancer Omics Lab under supervision of Dr. Wouter Hendrickx she is a student in the genomics and precision medicine program at Hamad Bin Khalifa university. Since 2019 she joined the cancer research department at Sidra medicine to work on her PhD project in the pediatric tumors with the guidance of Dr. Davide Bedognetti and Dr. Borbala Mifsud , Shimaa had her Bachelor degree in pharmaceutical sciences from faculty of pharmacy at Alexandria university-Egypt and her Master degree in human genetics from medical research institute at Alexandria university-Egypt, her master research focused on studying the effect of multi-drug resistance (MDR) gene polymorphisms on the response of CML patients to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. She is a licensed pharmacist in Egypt and Qatar.
