Assoc. Prof. Tunahan Çakır is affiliated with Department of Bioengineering at Gebze Technical University, Turkey. His research focuses on mapping genome-wide omics data on molecular interaction networks using computational systems biology methods to elucidate molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. He applies a number of bioinformatics methods to predict potential biomarkers, drug targets and drugs for those diseases. He is recipients of Young Scientist Outstanding Achievement Award (GEBIP) by Turkish Academy of Sciences (2015) and Research Incentive Award by METU Prof. Mustafa Parlar Foundation (2017). He has co-authored about 60 scientific articles so far. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the journal Molecular Omics. Previously, he worked in computational systems biology research projects at Technical University of Denmark, University Medical Center Utrecht, and University of Amsterdam. His B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D degrees are from Chemical Engineering Department at Boğaziçi University, Turkey.
