Personal Statement: As a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of São Paulo Medical School – FMUSP, working with preventive and social pediatrics, I focus my in understanding the impact of toxic stress, social determinants of health and other adversities in early childhood development and proposing and evaluating new approaches aiming to improve early childhood.
GCE Grantee Title and Short Overview Statement: As Principal Investigator of the Research Center on Child Development of the Pediatrics Department (CEPEDI), as PI on several national and international grants, Dr. Brentani has experience in conducting complex research projects and focuses her work in evaluating, proposing and translating early childhood development research into policies. In this project we aim to investigate the shape of the exposure-response relationships between adverse birth outcomes and PM2.5 exposure in order to estimate critical air pollution thresholds, exposure-response curves for congenital malformation incidence and other adverse birth outcomes in Brazil.
