Laura Heiser lmheiser

Dr. Laura Heiser is Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Co-Leader of the Knight Cancer Institute Quantitative Oncology Program at OHSU. In 2025, she was elected Fellow to the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). The long-term goal of the Heiser Lab is to design smarter therapies that improve outcomes for patients with hard-to-treat cancers. Toward that goal, her research program integrates cutting-edge imaging, single-cell sequencing, and computational modeling to develop frameworks for predicting and overcoming therapeutic resistance in cancer. A central focus has been on cellular heterogeneity and tumor–microenvironment interactions, areas that are critical for advancing precision medicine in aggressive cancers. These contributions span both methodological innovation and translational impact, establishing new paradigms that advance fundamental science while informing therapeutic development. She has been involved with DREAM since 2012.
