Metadata Templates

This folder contains templates for metadata to accompany data submissions. Most studies should have three metadata files: an individual file, a biospecimen file, and an assay file. If you are submitting data for multiple assays, then you should complete multiple assay templates and upload them individually. The individual template contains metadata on each individual who was part of the study. There should be exactly one row per individual. The biospecimen metadata file contains information about the specimens that were collected, with exactly one row per specimen. The individual IDs in this file should relate to those in the individual metadata file (that is, all of the individual IDs present in the biospecimen metadata should also appear in the individual metadata). Some columns in these files allow values from a standardized set of options. Relevant descriptions are also included as sheets within the Excel versions of the metadata templates.
